Altoona, Iowa — November 4, 2025 — Caring Hands Outreach Center extends its deepest gratitude to Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino and the Polk County Board of Supervisors for their generous support in helping meet the growing needs of our community through the establishment of our new food pantry.
Because of their investment and belief in our mission, Caring Hands is now able to serve over 3,000 individuals each month, ensuring that families in need have consistent access to nutritious food and compassionate support. Their contributions have allowed us to obtain proper equipment for safe food storage, maintain a clean and welcoming environment, and expand our ability to provide wrap-around services through our community navigators, helping neighbors connect to the resources they need to thrive.
“This support goes beyond funding—it reflects a shared commitment to care for our neighbors,” said Jodi Urich, CEO of Caring Hands Outreach Center. “Because of Prairie Meadows and the Polk County Board of Supervisors, we can serve families with dignity and hope. Their generosity ensures that no one in our community goes hungry.”
Caring Hands remains steadfast in its mission to feed, clothe, and uplift neighbors in need, and this partnership stands as a shining example of what can be accomplished when local organizations and public leaders unite with compassion and purpose.
Thank you, Prairie Meadows and Polk County Board of Supervisors, for caring about the citizens of our community.
