Defend the rights of the poor and needy” – PROVERBS 31:9

Now I don’t know about you, but most people love stories about underdogs defeating more powerful opponents. And we tend to love heroes who willingly sacrifice their resources to defend, save, and protect others. But what we may not realize is that we, as followers of Jesus, are “called” to be defenders of the weak and protectors of those in need.

Jesus set the perfect example for us to follow that makes our role clear. Believe it or not, but we simply have to open our hearts and engage in the struggle the other person faces. It may be meeting a physical need – providing food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, shelter to the homeless. But it may also be listening, praying, crying, and laughing with the lonely, the grieving, and the sick.

Guess what? We don’t have to have “super” powers to care for others that God places in our path each day. We simply have to LOVE them the way Jesus loves us!

This is why I “personally” feel blessed to be part Caring Hands and its mission as they live out what Jesus told them to do. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Matthew 25:35-36).

So “if” you want to know how to treat other people just ask the person you see every time you look into the mirror, and ask how do you want to be treated? The answer you receive will tell you exactly what to do.

This is why I love Caring Hands and all their various volunteers as they truly live out what Jesus told them to do.

If you want to hear WHY I am personally thrilled to be an “active” part of the Caring Hands family and WHY Cross Point Family Church in Bondurant supports their mission please feel free to give me a call at (515) 210-1823.

Looking forward to visiting with you!
